NATURAL JADE: This is a high grade nephrite jade pendant necklace. The pendant is completely natural nephrite jade.
CARVING: The pendant is exquisitely hand carved jade (one of a kind!) in the form of the Samantabhadra Buddha (Also known as Pu Xian). The front is carved with the buddha on an elephant; the elephant is a symbol of peace. Samantabhadra is often interpreted as the guardian Buddha for those who are of the Chinese Zodiac Snake and Dragon; one side of the pendant has a snake carving.
Samantabhadra Buddha means "Universal Worthy" or "all good" in sanskrit. He is associated with practice and meditation. He is the patron of the Lotus Sutra and, according to the Avatamsaka Sutra, made the ten great vows which are the basis of a bodhisattva. In Chinese Buddhism, Samantabhadra is known as Pǔxián and is associated with action.
