The pendant is exquisitely hand carved jade (one of a kind!) in the form of the Amitabha Buddha (Also known as Amita or Amida Buddha). Amitabha is the buddha of infinite light and life. This is a very unique type of carving style called inverted carving. The master carver reverses the pendant carving so that it is inverted. This beautiful effect creates a two sided piece - one where the pendant shows up as a picture when light passes through and another side where the inverted carving happens. Take a look at the picture and videos to view this beautiful effect! Inverted carving requires the best jadeite jade stone and also a master carver weeks of effort to perform. It is a very skilled carving technique. Note: this pendant is only slightly semi-translucent.
