HAND CARVING: The pendant is exquisitely hand carved jade (one of a kind!) in the form of the Guan Yin, the Buddhist "Goddess of Mercy." She is also said to be the "fertility goddess, bringer of children". In this pendant she is surrounded by a child on the left side with lotus on the right side. It is an auspicious symbol to bring fertility and children
Guan yin is also known as the Chinese translation of Avalokiteśvara, the Buddha of compassion. She also symbolizes harmony and compassion. When wearing the Guan Yin symbol, it is said to protect its wearer and endow them with wisdom, harmony, and compassion. In this piece, the Goddess of Mercy is depicted as meditating on a lotus symbolizing the peace, harmony, wisdom, and positive thoughts she brings to the world and the wearer of this piece.
JADE COLOR: This piece has beautiful green tones. It is semi-translucent so light can shine through the piece as well.
