NATURAL JADE: This is a high grade jade pendant necklace. The pendant is completely natural jadeite jade.
CARVING: The pendant is exquisitely hand carved jade (one of a kind!) in the form of the Samantabhadra Buddha (Also known as Pu Xian). Samantabhadra Buddha means "Universal Worthy" or "all good" in sanskrit. He is associated with practice and meditation. He is the patron of the Lotus Sutra and, according to the Avatamsaka Sutra, made the ten great vows which are the basis of a bodhisattva. In Chinese Buddhism, Samantabhadra is known as Pxin and is associated with action. In Chinese Buddhism, he is also interpreted as the guardian Buddha for those who are of the Chinese zodiac Snake and Dragon.
The buddha is depicted here with an elephant. Elephants symbolize mental strength and responsibility. Because elephants are so wise, many believe elephant symbols can evoke luminosity- a clear state of mind pursued through meditation.
JADE COLOR: This jade piece has beautiful shades of green blue tones. This piece is semi-translucent as well; this means when held against the light, the light will partially shine through - a premium quality in jade because it gives the jade a "glow" under certain lighting such as natural light.
