CARVING: It is exquisitely hand carved jade (one of a kind!) in the form of Guan Yin, the Buddhist "Goddess of Mercy." This beautiful pendant is hand carved by a master jade carver. Guan Yin is the Chinese translation of Avalokiteśvara, the Buddha of compassion. She also symbolizes harmony and compassion. When wearing the Guan Yin symbol, it is said to protect its wearer and endow them with wisdom, harmony, and compassion.
This piece has dual sided carving. You will see not only does the front have exquisite detailed Guan Yin carving but the back as well has detailed texture hand carving to give the piece more emphasis.
JADE COLOR: The jade color is a beautiful semi-translucent blue-green jade color. It is semi-translucent stone and allows light to shine through when held against the light or sun. This allows for a "glowing effect" when light reflects on the stone, which is beautiful under natural sunlight.
