NATURAL JADE: This is a high grade jade pendant necklace. The pendant is completely natural jadeite jade. It is un-dyed and in its natural form.

CARVING: The pendant is exquisitely hand carved jade (one of a kind!) in the form of the Guan Yin, the Buddhist "Goddess of Mercy." The Goddess of Mercy is depicted as sitting on top a lotus meditating next to a phoenix. The phoenix is a mythical creature that has the ability to reborn and be rebirth through fire. Its meaning in this piece is that the wearer will have the persistence, continuous pursuit, and self improvement in all aspects of his/her life. The phoenix's strength of being continuously reborn through fire symbolizes the wearer's pursuit of his/her dreams while continually reinventing and improving oneself again and again while triumphantly surpassing all hardships.

Guan Yin is the Chinese translation of Avalokiteśvara, the Buddha of compassion. She also symbolizes harmony and compassion. When wearing the Guan Yin symbol, it is said to protect its wearer and endow them with wisdom, harmony, and compassion.

CARVING PROCESS: The hand carving is performed by a master carver and takes weeks of work. The master carver first designs the artwork by taking account the natural jade features. In this case, the master carver wanted to emphasize the strong green hues in the stone. If you look at the piece, you can see how some of the green tones in the jade swirl and follow the phoenix tail on the bottom right. The carving is so detailed you can see the phoenix feathers and Guan Yin's face and posture very vividly. This piece is custom artwork that is designed based on the stone. This means there is only one piece like this in the world!

JADE COLOR: This piece has beautiful mixtures of light green with light grey tones. The color mixture is absolutely beautiful. It is semi-translucent stone and allows light to shine through when held against the light or sun. This allows for a "glowing effect" when light reflects on the stone, which is beautiful under natural sunlight.
